Kaikoura Wilderness Walks offers 2 or 3 day guided hikes traversing New Zealand's highest privately owned land, 50 mins north of Kaikoura on the east coast of the South Island. Shearwater Lodge
Our purpose built, eco-friendly lodge is set in a spectacular alpine valley at 1000m (3280ft). Rooms are super-king or twin share with ensuite bathroom and private balcony. Abundant Wildlife
The Puhi Peaks Nature Reserve is a protected Significant Natural Area of International Importance, renowned as haven for a diverse array of rare and endangered native species of flora and fauna including the Hutton's shearwaters and the black-eyed gecko. There is a huge array of plant life and amazing wildlife from the birdlife - rifleman, warbler, tomtit, falcon, pipit, New Zealand robin, white-eye, fantail, kereru, kingfisher and more - to larger animals such as chamois and deer.
